Assistance League of Whittier has been the proud recipient of several awards and commendations over the years. The chapter house is in a building that has been designated by the City of Whittier as an historical building.
Among our awards are:
- The Rotary Club of Whittier, thru the COMMUNITY & YOUTH SERVICE AWARDS has awarded the Assistance League of Whittier $2,000 for our Operation School Bell (OSB) to purchase school clothes for our local homeless children.
- Dede Shatzen 14 year ALW member was honored by the City of Whittier on April 21, 2022 as Volunteer of the Year. Congratulations and thank you for the many hours you have volunteered over the years.
- Rita Holmes, ALW 9 year member was honored by the City of Whittier on Aug 10, 2021 as Volunteer of the Year. Congratulations and thank you for the many hours you have volunteered over the years.

- Whittier Assistance League’s Operation School Bell® commendation
- The Whittier First Day Angel Award for outstanding service to the community
- Commendation by Don Knabe, Supervisor 4th District County of Los Angeles for service to the community
- Commendation by City of Whittier for sponsorship of the Whittier Library Summer Reading Program
- California Legislature, Assembly certification of recognition of service to the community.
- South Whittier School District recognition for philanthropic work throughout the district especially for ALW’s Operation School Bell and Dental Care programs- 2017-2018.

- County of Los Angeles Commendation from Janice Hahn 2017-2018
- Congress of U.S. House of Representatives Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition from Congresswoman Linda Sanchez 2017-2018
- East Whittier School District presented the “Going the Extra Mile” award on September 10, 2018 for OSB, Dental Care, KOB and Dental Puppets
- Whittier City Council commended the Assistance League of Whittier for donations to the Whittier Pubic Library’s for Summer Reading 2018
- A second Commendation by Whittier City Council was presented on September 11, 2018 to the Assistance League of Whittier for the philanthropic programs which support of the Whittier community through Operation School Bell, Emergency Dental Care, Legacy of Literacy, Summer Reading Program, Scholarships for Single Parents, Operation Holiday, Kids on the Block, Dental Puppets, Wee Wardrobe and the Bookmobile.
- Assistance League of Whittier was recognized for the scholarship provided to eight (8) students at the Rio Hondo Scholarship Recognition on January 18, 2019.
- South Whittier School District featured Dental Puppets and Kids on the Block in their website.
- Whittier City School District thanked the Assistance League of Whittier for being an engaged partner in their school community through collaboration and support for the students in Whittier City District on May 14, 2019
- Scholarship & Fellowship Appreciation Luncheon at Whittier College on April 26, 2019.
- East Whittier School District invited partners to provide input at their ‘Engage, East Whittier’ event on May 22.
