Started in 1981, Assistance League of Whittier’s Continuing Education Scholarship program provides scholarships for single-parent students who need financial assistance to pay for their educational related expenses at Rio Hondo College and Whittier College.

Application criteria:

• Single parents with children under the age of 18 living with them. are full-time students attending Rio Hondo College or Whittier College
• who reside in the Greater Whittier Area
• and have a G.P.A. of at least 2.8.

The program aims to assist students to provide a better life for themselves and their families by earning a degree or training for a vocation. Forms are available in the Financial Aid offices of the schools. The applicants are screened and selected by Continuing Education Committee members. $29,990 was granted to 18 deserving students in the 2019-2020 school year.
