Bookmobile, in conjunction with the Whittier Public Library, has been delivering books and DVDs to shut-ins free of charge since 1963. Books are delivered once a month to 5 senor residential facilities who are no longer able to go to the library because of age, disability, or illness. Books to meet the interests of each patron are personally selected by Assistance League volunteers and are delivered and picked up at the patron’s residence by the volunteer.

Assistance League of Whittier is the only group providing funds to the library to purchase materials for people who are having difficulty with traditional printed material. There is a growing  need for large-print material and books on tape.

Additional information is available by calling Assistance League of Whittier at (562) 693-6533 or the Whittier Public Library at (562) 464-3470.
