Dunwoody 4th of July Parade – 2023

As we have since 2004, Assistance League of Atlanta marched in the Dunwoody Parade on July 4th. This is known as the largest 4th of July Parade in the state of Georgia with an estimated 35,000 spectators enjoying the festivities in most years. Unfortunately, this year a rainstorm broke out just as the parade was getting underway and kept some fair-weather friends at home. It’s a rain or shine event though, so the parade proceeded and eventually the weather improved. This year’s parade theme was Dunwoody High School’s 50th anniversary. Our entourage consisted of a convertible with our President, Jo Stage, on board waving her queenly wave along with her granddaughter, Olivia. The car and our delivery van were decked out in red, white and blue decorations. Our ground troops (members) marched, carried signs, and waved flags. Our very own talented twirler, Peggy Helm, entertained the onlookers with an amazing performance. It’s fun and patriotic, and we love doing it!
