Who We Are

We are 288 member volunteers in Atlanta focused on making our community a better place to live.

Assistance League of Atlanta is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization helping children and adults in need rebuild their lives and become more self-sufficient.  Through our programs, we assist a network of 250 community partners to provide new clothing, food, household goods, hygiene kits, comfort items and educational aid to those affected by homelessness, abuse and poverty.

Assistance League Hosts a Shopping Day for Mary Hall Freedom Village

Quarterly, Assistance League provides residents of Mary Hall Freedom Village with work clothing and accessories for job interviews and graduation.  Mary Hall began with a focus on substance abuse recovery and has grown into a program that frees women and children from the cycle of homelessness, poverty, mental illness, and addiction.

Georgia Center for Child Advocacy Receive Items for Children

The mission of the Georgia Center for Child Advocacy is to champion the needs of sexually and physically abused children through prevention, intervention, therapy, and collaboration.  Recently representatives spoke to Assistance League members about their service to children and their caregivers.  Assistance League provided them with teddy bears and blankets.

Backpack Buddies Program Provides Food for Schoolchildren in Need

Members fill the weekend hunger gap by providing food for students who might otherwise lack meals over the weekend. These students, selected by school counselors, take home on Fridays a backpack of healthy meals and snacks, making it possible for each student to return to school on Monday mornings fed and ready to learn.
