Linda Crowley will receive AAUW Las Distinguidas Award on May 13!

Positive, enthusiastic, dedicated, tireless and sometimes over the top Linda Crowley will be receiving the American Association of University Women’s (AAUW) Las Distinguidas Award on May 13, 2017!  This award is given to exceptional women who have made significant and noteworthy contributions in one or more areas of business, the arts, education, community service, politics and the professions.

Linda has a passion for getting involved and is a member of many Whittier organizations.  She enjoys working with friends to accomplish the goals that have been set in these organizations.  Linda has been a member of Assistance League of Whittier for 37 years and has served as President three times- yes 3 times!   She has held many positions at ALW including chairing the annual Carousel fundraisers.  She has held almost every board position and has worked on countless committees.

Linda is the Past President of the Whittier Guild of Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles and has worked on their many fundraisers.  In addition, Linda was VP of Philanthropies for the East Whittier Women’s Improvement Club.  She is a member of P.E.O. Chapter EK, the Past President of the AAUW Whittier chapter, served as the 1st President of the historic Bailey House, served on the Centennial Board/Committee for the City of Whittier and is a member of the SOLA Lions Club.

Linda was born and raised in Whittier, CA, attended Whittier Christian Elementary School, Whittier High School and graduated from Whittier College.  She taught middle school in Los Nietos School District for 20 years and was Teacher of the Year in 2002. She retired from teaching in 2008.

Linda lives in Whittier with her husband Dean Crowley, retired Commissioner of C.I.F.  Just look at Linda’s Facebook page to see her daughter Amy and her husband Peter with their 3 children Alexa (13), Jack (11) and Liam (6) and her son Brian and his wife Rose and their two daughters Sydney (11) and Reese (9).  Linda is nothing but a fabulous mother and grandmother!
