This Saturday is Gift of Giving. For many of our members this is their favorite event because at it’s core it summaries what this holiday season is what it is all about. Once again the event is different this year. We will be practicing social distancing and having the families drive through to pick up their gifts. This event has a rich and wonderful history.Gift of Giving is a philanthropic activity of the Assistance League of Santa Ana. Gift of Giving is held each year in December. The original Gift of Giving began as a partnership with the South Coast Plaza Merchants Association and thanks to their support this event has continued to bring joy to the students of Santa Ana for nearly 25 years. Each year, our members and community partners provide a complete holiday celebration for Santa Ana Unified School district (SAUSD) students and their families. The SAUSD staff in the Migrant Education Services department identify families that are in the greatest need of assistance during this time. ALSA is provided a “wish list” of gifts that the SAUSD families are requesting and our ALSA “elves” go to work filling those wish lists and packaging the gifts. Additionally, families are provided with Grocery gift certificates, food, books and other items to make their holiday special.
