What is Assistance League of Albuquerque?

We are the Albuquerque Chapter of National Assistance League. Our local 501(c)(3) nonprofit is run by over 300 committed member volunteers who work tirelessly to benefit both adults and children in our community through a variety of programs.

Who are we – the member volunteers?

We come from a variety of careers including teachers, nurses, business owners and more. We use our life-learned skills and talents to successfully run this many-faceted business. We find that being involved in this philanthropic adventure is as fulfilling for us as it is to those we serve. And we are always looking for new members.

What are our three largest community programs?

Operation School Bell®

The Assistance League® of Albuquerque, through Operation School Bell, provides clothes, shoes, hygiene products, and, more recently, non-perishable food for disadvantaged children in our Title 1 schools.

The Blue Portal

This program gives senior NM artists and crafters a venue to have their items sold in a beautiful Old Town Shop, which we own and staff. The artists receive 100% of the sale price. In 2021 we wrote more than $200,000 to pay more than 400 artists.

Kids Are Pretty Special

When children are removed from a household, ABQ’s (CYFD) Children, Youth and Families Dept. keeps them until they go into foster care. But CYFD  doesn’t have enough funds to provide the extra things like another outfit to wear, diapers, or formula to drink. We fulfill that need.
