Buddy Bear Patrol provides plush bears to the Albuquerque Police and Fire Departments through the Family Advocacy Center for distribution to children who are victims of trauma. Assistance League has contributed over 42,000 Buddy Bears to Albuquerque children.

Albuquerque police officers keep several bears in their car trunk so they will always have available a new soft, cuddly bear to comfort a victim in a traumatic situation.

One officer recently told a volunteer as he helped carry 125 outfitted bears into the station, “We sure do use these.”

In 2017-2018, 30 of our volunteers delivered 1200 bears to 32 First Responder Agencies.  In addition, Buddy Bears were provided to 13 Title 1 schools.    We were honored to discover the bronze statue in front of the North Fourth BC Sheriff’s facility with a Fireman giving a child a buddy bear – love does show.
