Guidelines for Artists 2026

  • All items will be accepted at the discretion of the Blue Portal. We are here to maximize sales for each artist. Limits are noted. This increases as the artist’s work sells more.  You must be a NM resident and 55 or older to qualify.
  • Items accepted have 90 day max: You will receive notice via email if you have inventory that has been put in storage. You have 14 days to pick up or will be donated ALA.
  • We cannot penetrate our walls or use adhesive materials on them-this limits display and is the controlling factor in wall art.
  • It is impossible to tell you the exact number of each item we will accept. It is based on sales overall and the availability of display space. We have limited storage for replacement of sold inventory.  What we accept:
  • WHAT WE DO TAKE
    • Jewelry: earrings sell best(must be on card), limited # necklaces, bracelets
    • Tote bags – finish is important
    • Ceramic pieces – sell well   colors do better than neutrals
      Kitchen Items – sell well, –Placemats-sets of 2, 4 or 6  very slow sales in 202
    • 4-8 Scarves dependent on sales silk or woven ribbon only no crochet slowing sales
    • A selection of NM Ornaments and Balloon Items are kept year round
    • Beeswax Candles (must be handmade and no scent)
    • Childrens toys and fabric works NO LOOSE BUTTONS ON CHILDRENS ITEMS
    • Large furniture or lamps – space available
    • Greeting cards -must be in cellophane bags clearbags.com -original art only
    • Glass, metal, wood, gourd
    • Accessories
    • Fabric Arts: quilts, wall hangings, table runners—selective, call with questions
  • WHAT WE DO NOT TAKE
    • Paintings – only current artists, building limitations on all wall hanging work
    • Soiled, Worn, Unfinished work, Crude, Scented, Smoky, inadequate finish
    • No food or food products: No live plants, no SCENTED ITEMS
    • Bolos, Pocket Knives, – sharp edges on metal/tin work
    • Childrens pieces with attachments that a child could swallow BUTTONS
    • Clothing (other than infant 12mos and under which we do take in ltd number)
    • Knitted or Crocheted throws or blankets, pillows or cases, lap robes, shoes, hats
    • Trademark Items such as Disney, Hello Kitty, etc
    • Any item deemed extremely delicate
    • Gag gifts- magnets
    • Books, journals, notebooks
    • Individual artists display pieces- we have our store display pieces
    • Nite-lights – display issues and historically bad sellers for us

There are always exceptions to what we accept- sales trends, inventory in store and so on.  If we have too much of something on the floor or in storage-we will temporarily suspend acceptance of that particular type of item. There are no exceptions on the items we do not take.    If you have a question about inventory just send us and email and we will respond.
